Welcome to Hammond Horror Fest 2017! This year marks the 7th Annual Hammond Horror Festival, a series of events taking place in and around downtown Hammond that is sure to entertain you with a twist of horror just in time for Halloween.
The purpose of the Hammond Horror Festival is to provide an annual community project for artists of all mediums to showcase their work in an alternative celebration of the arts, while benefitting local arts organizations. Established in October 2011, Hammond Horror Fest is designed to embrace the contributions, tastes, and cultural energies that local professional and student artists bring to this region.
The planned location of the festival is downtown Hammond, LA, and various surrounding areas, in order to support and enrich the arts and culture of this historic city. The goal of this festival is to inspire local artists to get involved with their community in the spirit of Halloween, and will do so by welcoming a spread of performances and exhibitions of art including, but not limited to: theatre, music, visual arts, dance, poetry/spoken word and film.
Have you ever wanted to make a horror movie? Ever wonder what it would be like to have your very own movie shown on the big screen? Or maybe you're looking to put your movie making skills to the test? Well, now is the time as Hammond Horror Fest announces its second annual 48-hour film competition.
The Seventh Annual Hammond Horror Festival presents for a second year the 48-Hour Short Film contest. This event is open to anyone around the world. Each Participant (or team) will write, shoot and edit a film no less than 1 minute and no more than 5 minutes long in exactly 48 hours.
Filmmakers will be sent the following at 7:00 p.m. (CST) SHARP on September 8, 2017 (Friday):
Each contestant (or team) will be given: a genre for the film, a character, a prop and a line of dialogue that must appear in each film. Contestants (or teams) must post finished films to his/her YouTube account and send a link to the posted film (and a password if needed) to email@example.com by 7:00pm (CST) Sunday, September 10, 2017.
To participate in the 48-Hour Film Festival, please read all Contest Rules, and fill out the form below. Following that, a registration fee of $40 must be paid via PayPal to firstname.lastname@example.org. Participants may also send check, money order or cashier check in US funds payable to: Hammond Horror Festival and mail along with your entry form to Jim Winter, SLU 12767, Hammond, LA 70402.
Your signature on the entry form constitutes your acceptance and agreement, on behalf of yourself, and the members of your cast and crew, to the Contest Rules posted on the website. Any cast or crew that you use must review, and agree to, the Contest Rules.
This year we will also be accepting submissions for short horror films. All short films must be 5-15 minutes max including credits. Films that are accepted to this festival are expected to provide a download link to their film within 1 week of notification. All films must have a resolution of 1920x1080 HD or better. There will be one Audience Choice award and an Official Selection Certificate for the films that are chosen this year.
